Andorra gains more residents in 2019 and increases its population by almost 2%

The latest figures provided by the Statistical Office of the Government of Andorra show an increase of almost 1,400 people, which represents a 1.8% growth of the total population.

Of the Principality of Andorra’s 77,543 inhabitants, 28.9% (22,480 people) live in the capital, Andorra la Vella. The second most populous parish is the centrally located Escaldes-Engordany, with 14,599 inhabitants (18.8% of the total). Ordino and Canillo are the least populated areas, with only 6.4 and 5.6% of the total population, respectively.

A country with one of the longest life expectancies in the world

The population pyramid shows that the bulk of the population are aged 35–55 and that 72.5% of the country’s total residents are of working age (15 to 64 years old). It should also be noted that, for the first time since the country’s records began, the population aged over 64 slightly exceeds those under 15 (14% as opposed to 13%).

This is due to the fact that Andorra is among the countries with the longest life expectancies in the world (83.5 years). Moreover, the principality boasts an average age of 41.28 years, almost two points below the European average in 2018.

A country with a high quality of life

Andorra is the perfect country for living well, free from the crowds and stress that we encounter in big cities.

The proximity to nature and the fact that only 5% of the territory is urbanised, allow us to enjoy clean, pure air and low levels of pollution. The same is true for water and noise pollution, which are almost non-existent.

The nature and the numerous green spaces in the urban centres make it possible to combine a daily life filled with activities typical of major cities with the calm and tranquillity of a small town. All this in a climate that enjoys more than 2,000 hours of sunshine each year, along with four distinct seasons that allow you to rediscover hidden aspects of the country throughout the year.

And we should not overlook other factors such as living in a society with a crime rate that is practically zero and where safety is a way of life, in addition to the excellent public health service, which provides services that are on par with the private health systems of neighbouring countries.
